Swab wants to give an opportunity not only to the exhibitors, but also to the public. So that they themselves can discover these young masterpieces. It also lends a hand in persuading collectors to offer high quality art at reasonable prices.
The huge gallery collaboration tempted 13,000 curious art lovers last year and has this year expanded to a new venue, Fira de Barcelona at Plaza Espana, which should cater for about 20,000 visitors.
Within Swab, Etika projects and The Welking contest presents project ARTBOX, which will be the welcoming installation placed at the exterior entrance in Plaza Universo.
The exhibition consists of nine three-dimensional wooden boxes in sizes of 1,80 x 1,80 meters. International urban-contemporary artists have been invited to design the little art pieces using mediums such as Montana spray paint, acrylic paint, house paint or found objects. The boxes are their platforms and one of the applying artists will be chosen by a jury to participate with the 10th box in the ARTBOX project.
Currently nine recognized contemporary painters such as Pez, Cisco KSL, Ripo and Christian Blanxer will be displaying in the artistic installation. The winner and the one who will be fortunate to show their work on this great contemporary art platform will be announced in late April.
